Lost In Flight

Unclasped thoughts take flight

Escape shaking fingers, like

Prayerful birds flown cage

Far afield past horizon

Lost poems, feathers falling

Prompt:  TROUBLE

It’s without respect

Shows no discrimination

Trouble’s job: Trouble

Prayers, wishes don’t circumvent

Wealthy can’t avoid missile…

Calling all angels

Army poised, effects rescue

Till Trouble’s next time

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33, New Internat’l Version

Q & A, Preview of ABOUT

Although Kristian knows I don’t accept blog awards (insufficient time and energy to do them justice), he asked me to consider answering the questions he posed, following his receipt of the Mystery Blogger Award.  I pondered, and thought it might be a good prelude to my upcoming ABOUT page reveal.  So here are his questions, and my responses.

Questions from Kristian:

1. If you were offered £/$ 100,000 to sleep in a haunted house, would you? How would you cope?

Absolutely…I need the money!  I’d bring a flashlight, Bible and another book; and my steno pad and pen, to write poetry inspired by the “atmosphere” 🙂

 2. What was your favourite show as a kid?

TV in the late 50’s, early 60’s was a world of escape.  I watched ALL the westerns, keen for my cowboy heroes.  Aside from those, my fave pick would be “The Andy Griffith Show”—homespun, small town humor which used a light hand to teach good moral values.  I still watch the reruns 5 days a week 🙂

3. Do you have any weird habits?

Oh good grief!  Although I’m not a compulsive clean-freak, I do favor generous use of Lysol spray cleaner.  And I buy LOTS of toilet paper…like almost every time it’s on sale.  I need to stock up again, because I no longer have 90 rolls…but in my bijou apartment there’s next to zero cupboard/closet space for storage.  I considered stacking the 30-roll packs in the living room with a blanket over top, as an extra sofa for guests…

4. If money didn’t matter, what would you do with your life

Do you mean, if I were wealthy?  If I were, I’d enjoy giving tons of money to all the causes I’m passionate about, without having to choose between one and another.  For myself, I’d purchase a beach cottage with a huge, well-equipped kitchen, and a library…full bookshelves lining each wall; a better computer; and a good car with the services of a dependable chauffeur…think “Driving Miss Daisy” 🙂

5. What is your favourite thing about yourself?

That’s a tough one…  Maybe that against all odds, and through my faith in God, I’ve become indomitable.  I may kick and scream, drag my feet, pout and whine, and threaten:  “that’s IT, I’m DONE!”…but then I pull myself together, brush off the ashes and rise like the Phoenix.  I never promise I can do this every time…but it seems to be holding true for the past 22 years.  Oh, and my wacky humor…which seems miraculous too, having lived with depression for nearly 70 years.

Thanks for the invite, Kristian—and to my loyal readers: I’m diligently working to get my ABOUT page up (it’s waaaay long, so I apologize in advance).

God bless you, everyone♥ Fleur

A Mile Wide

Prompt: “A Mile Wide”

Shoulders a mile wide

Tall, square-jawed, hefting saddle

Pensive blue-lake eyes

I’d have crawled through broken glass

To feel your heart beat ‘gainst mine
